Barbados South Coast Real Estate

Real Estate in Barbados a guide to the South Coast of Barbados aimed at international real estate buyers

 South Coast Barbados

The south coast of Barbados is a popular place these days for visitors and international real estate investors. It is much more affordable than the west coast and also has a lot more going on. The combination of Barbados culture and reasonable prices makes it an enticing target for anyone looking for a great Caribbean investment.

The traditional Barbados investment has been on the west coast. It is even called the Platinum Coast, for the amount of millionaires and billionaires who own homes there. While it is tourist hot spot, the south and south east Parishes of Christ Church and St. Philip are more fun, according to most people in the know. According to Totally Barbados, (www.totallybarbados.com), Christ Church is the most energetic and fun part of the island, while St. Philip is easier and breezier. This is, in part, due to the Atlantic breezes blowing in here.

In recent years these parts of Barbados have seen a lot of new development. This area is more affordable than the west coast and has not been built up nearly as much. Starting with Bottom Bay in the southeast, down past Crane Brach and the airport and around the tip of the island to Oistins and ending up at Bridgetown, there are plenty of reasonable properties to be had. There are a number of new developments in these areas as well, so you can get pre-existing housing or off-plan, whichever you want.

Even though it is less expensive, there are still pricey places – and buyers - in this area. The Condominiums at Palm Beach, a new development on the south coast in Hastings that was just announced last year, is so popular that even the $1 million price tag can’t keep people away. According to an article in Barbados’ largest newspaper, The Nation (www.nationnews.com), there is much more interest in the property than they have openings. If you are looking for variety, you will find it here.

International flights come into Grantley Adams International Airport on the southern end of the island on a regular basis from the US, Europe and South America. This location makes it convenient to the south and southeast coasts, although getting around this small island is by no means difficult.
