Bridgetown, Barbados

Bridgetown is the capital city of Barbados.  The city is a major tourist destination and the island has begun to see new property and construction expansion.  Property in Barbados has become an increasingly popular site for the construction of new hotels, new homes, office complexes, condominiums and mansions. 

The government of Barbados encourages overseas property investment and international investments to aid in reducing unemployment.  The island encourages any investments that may be used to increase the number of jobs available to citizens of the island.  There are several multi-million-dollar projects taking place across the island with several quality hotels on property in Bridgetown that offer world-class accommodations.   Many of these hotels are world known chains of hotels as well.

Timeshares are also available and popular with those interested in investing in property in Bridgetown.  Particularly the southern and western coasts are popular with property investors because the island has beautiful beaches in these areas.  There are also several investment opportunities in luxury villas that rent out to tourists visiting the Caribbean.  Overseas property investors have found these villas to be a lucrative business, especially those that provide a full staff for cooking, cleaning and laundry services.

The Atlantic Ocean side of the island is popular with surfers, especially in the “Soup Bowl” area near Bathsheba.  Scuba diving, helicopter rides, golf, cave exploration and wildlife reserves are among some of the attractions available in the area.  Shopping for fine clothing and jewelry is also popular because of the duty-free shopping that is available.  Cricket is the islands national sport and they are to host the 2007 Cricket World Cup final.  This event is planned to attract a large number of visitors to the area and the rates on hotels and villas are expected to increase substantially.  The Barbados Open is an annual tournament on the European Seniors Tour.
